1986 Shelby GLHS #053

On the interior, we wanted to maintain as close to stock appearance as possible, but still have all the functionality we wanted. Since we needed more instrumentation, we used a two gauge A-pillar pod from FWD Performance, and put in Autometer Ultralite oil pressure and boost gauges. I also added a NOS cruise control stalk, Chrysler AM/FM/Cass/CD radio, a cable shifter, and NOS Shelby horn medallion for kicks. Since we didn't want the casual observer to be able to tell it indeed is a cable shifter, we completely disassembled one from a 90 P-body, and rebuilt it to fit under the stock Omni interior pieces, and used a new GLHS style Momo shift knob.

If you look very closely at this picture you will see one small part of the suspension mods made to this GLHS. We added 1 1/8" Quickor front and rear sway bars. This new rear sway bar can be used in addition to the stock rear sway bar. At the same time, I added new Koni struts and shocks, LRE -1.25" Front AutoX springs, Polyurethane front bushings, and an 'AutoX' style alignment. In the rear, an 87 Shelby Z rear disc brakes with an 87 Shelby Z master cylinder were added. The results in this department make for the best handling, most stable L body we have ever driven.
